With have recently experienced a anti-virus defintion update issue.
Our Update policy for Windows Update is while on the LAN use our WSUS server and when off the LAN use Microsft Updates.
Here is the dilemma. We use Juniper for VPN connections. clients are complaining that have to manually check for updates due to them getting semitrusted zone instead of trusted zone.
We know that with auto-deployment rules that when WSUS receives the defintion update it is immediately available to clients and they get the updates.
Clients either shutdown or put system in sleep mode when they leave office. When they boot or wake up from sleep they cannot connect to Juniper and receive trusted zone, due to defintion file not being current.
Looking for a method to make client systems to check for Microsoft Updates upon boot up or wake up when not on LAN/WAN.
Our systems are a combination of win XP with FCS and FCS 2010 and win 7 with FCS 2010 and EP 2012.

Thank you for the post.
“Looking for a method to make client systems to check for Microsoft Updates upon boot up or wake up when not on LAN/WAN.” – as far as I know, FCS has not build-in feature to auto detect the network connection state and check for MU upon this state.Regards,
