AnswerDoes Forefront Client Security monitor Outlook client?

I understand that FCS will watch for anti-virus/anti-malware on a Windows client. Does it also scan inbound and outbound messaging (SMTP, POP, IMAP, RSS, etc) in an Outlook client? I may have missed it, but I don't see any FCS messaging configurations in the management windows or any toolbar options added to Outlook (2007 in my case).

I believe the Forefront Security for Exchange will only scan mail stores and SMTP traffic.

    Thanks,

    Stuart

    Hi Stuart

FCS won't scan traffic at the Application layer - FSS/Exchange does handle scanning email messages for viruses.  That said, if you receive an infected email and attempt to open the attachment/etc, FCS real-time protection would catch the malware and address it appropriately

    Hope this helps
