Reassigning clients to different MS
Reassigning clients to different MS
- We have started deploying FCS with our SCCM environment.
Due to acquisitions our number of clients will surpass 10,000.
Would like to know an easier/best practice way to reassign clients and servers to different MS.
i.e. FCSPOD1 to FCSPOD2

You will need FCS Enterprise manager for 10k+ clients. 2 downstream pods both reporting up to an enteprise manager.
As for moving clients to a new MOM server see http://blogs.technet.com/fcsnerds/archive/2008/11/12/changing-the-management-group-to-which-an-fcs-client-reports.aspx basically an msiexec command line to reconfigure the MOM client.

Hi,
Thank you for the post.
According to my experience, you may update the hardware for the servers in a four-server topology with up to 10,000 managed computers. For more information, please see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb418915.aspx
Meanwhile, you can refer to the following Step-By-Step guide to deploy FCS.

The additional info will help as with expand our target audience.
I read thru the links given but still did not see exactly what I was hoping for.
Here is our situation. We have been presently deploying FCS thru SCCM. When our package deploys, our command is
"clientsetup /cg SCCMPR1 /MS FCSPOD1"
What my question is, we are having to stand up a second server to handle the additonal clients. The packages for the new clients is not issue.
What is the easiest way to reassign existing clients from one FCS POD to the other? We need to do this, since we have to manage our environment thru subnet boundaries and not thru AD sites. We can't change this.
Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated. - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=D9413461-9384-4B14-8A26-1E77E6D98182&displaylang=en
