Slowness on opening Office files when Firewall Client installed

Hi, I have a laptop (HP nx7000) with Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003. All the Office aplications work fine, but when I install the Microsoft Firewall Client 2004 and you try to open Word, Excel... or double click on a file it takes around 20 seconds to open it. Once it is open and you do File --> Open it opens the file OK.
If I uninstall the Firewall Client everything works fine and fast again.
Anybody knows how can I fix this? I've searched the internet but couldn't find a solution. This problem is driving me crazy.
Thanks in advance.

If you are having issues accessing network files you might want to check that DNS resolution is working properly, and that firewall clients are set up correctly for direct access to internal resources. Take a look at these documents that may help:

Thanks for your help. I'll take a look to this lnks.
But the problem is not just accessing network files, also files in the hard disk of the laptop. Just opening the Word (not a document) gives me problems.

Hi, didn't find a solution yet. It's very strange because I've reinstalled other machines, here at the my office, and Office 2003 works smooth.
This particular machine has been reinstalled some times before and everything worked well. But this time :-(
The antivirus is Etrust 7.0 from Computer Associates. But the antivirus is not installed and the problem is there.

Hi,
it might be that Microsoft Office try to establish an Internet connection for accessing infomrations (Error reporting, accessing picture libraries or updating online content help or such things).
Try to disable this features.
Could this be the case?
