I have tmg beta 3 installed on server 2008.

Issue is i can't check for windows update. It fails with following error.

    Error Code 80072EFD

Although TMG is able to check defination updates fine, issue is with servers update. What could be wrong?

I was able to perform update fine before installing tmg. Also all other server behind tmg can also check for update

I solve the same issue by setting the proxy on the TMG server with a bypass list for Microsoft update.
    On a commande line :
    C:\>netsh
    netsh>winhttp
    netsh winhttp> set proxy proxy-server="http=<FQDN of TMG>:<proxy port configured on TMG>" bypass-list="*.microsoft.com;*.windows.com;*.windowsupdate.com"
    netsh winhttp> pushd

    Hope this will help you.

just for the sake of elimination , can you disable the EMP ( Edge Malware Protection)and HTTPSi ( HTTPS Inspection) and try?

I've got the same issue with TMG RTM and it's belong to an http-inspection denied. But impossible to add an exception rule without the queried DNS. TMG only show the destination IP adress (I'll post it later).
