Wake on Lan trough ISA 2006 SP1
- hi to all,i need to enable WOL trough ISA.I Have created a rule to allow the UDP 9 from source to destination, but the packet is discarded with the following code:FWX_E_BROADCAST_PACKET_DROPPEDThank a lot for the help.

- ISA does not forward broadcast traffic.
This will not work across ISA.

- WOL won't work through the ISA firewall because it's limited to single Ethernet broadcast domains. Since the firewall separates broadcast domains, WOL won't work.

- Hi,
ISA is a Firewall which denies such traffic and packets cannot be broadcast across the Internet. Thats why WOL is called Wake On Lan, not Wake On Internet.
One way could be a solution where a remote web server initiate the WOL request: http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-asp.aspx

www.it-training-grote.de Thank Marc for the reply...but i don't use isa just to protect from internet, i use it also to protect some server farm... and i need to do wake on lan from there. As you can see... is wake on lan and not on internet ;-)

How about if the client is connecting over a VPN? Then it is on the same subnet. How would I configure the ISA server to pass the traffic?
