I have a TMG server, when i am connecting VPN from client with remote gateway enabled i am able to connect to office communicator but i am unable to browse internet.

If i disable remote gateway i am able to browse internet but i am unable to signin Office communicator. Is there anyway i can get both office communicator and internet browsing using VPN.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

    enable VPN Split tunneling:

or (better) enable VPN clients for Internet access. Extend the TMG Network rule which allows internal users to access the Internet with the TMG network VPN-CLIENTS and create a Firewall policy rule which allows VPN-CLIENTS access to the EXTERNAL network for HTTP/HTTPS

Dont do split tunneling, simply add the rule he said to add and you will no longer have this issue!! Go to your rules for VPN Client Access in TMG. Click on the rule to edit it, and simply add to the "to" tab at the top and add "external". Apply settings and done.

I personally only use split tunnel VPN when i need to access LOCAL network resource WHILE on VPN. So if you have a network printer in your home office and you need to be able to print to it, split tunnel vpn is needed so that while on VPN it will send this local traffic through your gateway instead of the VPN gateway
