    Hi,

I am new to ISA server.

I have installed ISA 2004 Std on Windows 2003 Server. I have configured the mail publishing rule to allow access to POP3, SMTP & IMAP protocols. I do not have an exchange server in the network. The outlook clients still cannot access their POP3 mailboxes.

Is there anything specifc I need to configure?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,

You have said that you have configured the mail publishing rule, and then you have said that you do not have an exchange server in the network !

what exactly are you trying to do ? your Internal Clients are trying to access their External mail server using pop3 and smtp ???

or do you have an internal mail server and you are publishing it, so that external users can access your internal server ????

    awaiting your reply.

    HTH,
    Tarek

Hi Tarek,, I think my problem might be the same,,, exept that I do have an Internal Exchange BUT I don't pulish it,,, Lets leave my Exchange out of the equasion for now as I want to explain My issue that I have.

    Now,,

I'm running ISA Server 2006, Internal Network for my Domain Controller, AD, DNS, DHCP, WINS and External Network for my Internet Connection. I have set up an Edge Firewall using full firewall functionality through SecureNAT. Currently I am allowing ALL Trafic through ISA as I first want everything to work perfectly,,, then to start blocking what ever I need to block.

    Now,,

When I setup my Outlook 2007 Client through my gMail Account,,, It searches for my Account and then Logs into my Account to send a Test Mail,,, When Opening the Outlook 2007 Client,,, it downloads my mail and I can Send and Recieve mail through my gMail Account. It works 100%

    BUT,,

When setting up my Hotmail Account through Outlook 2007 Client,,, that is where the problem starts,,, I have also Download and Installed the latest Outlook Connector but also no winnings. I'll try and post some links to screen shots so that you or someone can see and PLEASE help me or GUIDE me through to what and HOW to do it

    This is without Outlook Connector:

This is WITH Outlook Connector BUT I can not Send or Recieve my mails from Hotmail:

    Hi ElMajdal,

Sorry for the delayed response. My Server motherboard crashed so still waiting for replacement.

I do not have internal mail server but I read on some forums that we need to create mail publishing rules for outlook access & thus created mail publishing rules. All the users are using POP3 accounts created on the service providers mail server as also hotmail & gmail.

I am using routing for internet access & not NAT. I don't if that could be a issue.

    hi devesh,

Just like Tarek said. if you have an mail server in the network, you should publish the mail server. i think you may just create an access rule to open some ports (25,110)and protocols. that just be fine.

    Hi Devesh,

Sorry for your server's motherboard !

As Arick said, you  need to create a Firewall Policy to allow outbound connection for your Internal users to be able to use their mail client to connect to their external mail servers.

Set the Relation between the Internal & The External Network as NAT.

Have you installed the firewall client on your client's machines ? After you do, check this article : Using Outlook 2003 with the Firewall Client
