    Hi Folks

I have an ISA 2004 VPN connection and can successfully RDP to my Windows 2003 Servers. However I cannot RDP or ping any Windows 2008 R2 Servers from VPN connection. This have me puzzled as I can successfully RDP and ping all servers (Win03, Win08) when on LAN.

Does this issues have to do with ISA 2004 or some settings of Windows 2008 R2? I was told to post this issue on the ISA forum to narrow/determine nature of issue.

    Hi

Simply restarting ISA 2004 resolved my issue. Searching through the ISA logs I noticed some services did not start properly.

I can now successfully RDP to all my W2K8 R2 Servers.

More than likely, the ISA 2004 policy is blocking your RDP traffic to those servers.
You can determine whether this is true by watchihng the ISA live logging while you perfrom your tests.

    Hi Jim

From the ISA logs I was able to gather the following information while trying to RDP to 2008 R2:

    Initiated Connection
    Status: The operation completed successfully

    Closed Connection
Status: A connection was gracefully closed in an orderly shutdown process with a three-way FIN-initiated handshake

XP and Win 7 Remote Desktop Client Error (through VPN)
Remote connections might not be enabled ...............

    Any suggestions?
