Locked Question: Windows Firewall and TMG 2010 do they work together?

    Hi guys,

    On windows server 2008 does the Windows Firewall has to be configured to "Active" when having TMG 2010 instaled and running on that server? do both have to be working or can the windows firewall be disabled? Will they kill each other when working together?

    Yes windows Firewall will be active in windows server 2008 R2 with TMG installed on it. We are not supposed to stop it. It will show you Settings are managed by Forefront TMG and they will not kill eachother. They love working together :)

     Yes, I agree with Junaid. TMG Firewall integrated with the local windows Firewall instead of replaced it. This is made possible by the WFP which makes incorporating firewall services in to the operating system’s networking stack much easier. For more information, you may refer to the following link:
