I have just gotten this new computer. It is an HP with Windows 7. I thought it would have a 'Word' program already installed and have been unable to find it.  I need a "Word" program to write letters, documents, and other information that I also want to save in folders.  My other hard drive 'crashes' -- no back up (I know! DUMB) but --- Anyway I'm in GREAT need for your assistance.

Hi.  You have to have some sort of word processing document or you wouldn't be able to open any pdf documents when you surf the net.  You may have microsoft Works, or at the very least "one note."  I have an hp also, and I dont have word either but I have these.  Click on your start button and go to "all programs."  Do you see microsoft works?  If so, click on it and you will get a dropdown menu and word is at the bottom.  If not, go to accessories (which is the first thing listed when you click on "all programs" from your start menu) and at the very bottom you will see word pad.  You can use this just to get by until you get a word processing program you like.  Its very limited but you can make due with it in the mean time.  Good luck!
