trying to find some way to REPORT A WINDOWS ISSUE.

SETPOINT SOFTWARE OVERRIDES VISTA

resets scroll number to previous setting AFTER changed in vista. PLUS scroll number setting WILL NOT CHANGE IN VISTA WITH SETPOINT SOFTWARE RUNNING.

just let me know if you need the MS 32 log or anything.....will provide.

I did a lot of reading on MS application virtualization and i got the concept and thought it was fairly easy, however, when I started reading about MS presentation virtualization, it got me a little confused as I wasn't able to tell the difference.

If you find your course is not running on your LMS, you can test that it is SCORM 1.2 compliant by uploading it to the test area at scorm.com. If all is well, it will play on that server and you will know that it is constructed correctly. If your course does not play on the scorm server, it will be debugged and you will receive a report.

I thought I could download one of the sample LCMS courses - like Computer_Basics - from this site, zip the contents of the course folder, upload it to scorm.com and see it play. It didn't work - lots of href errors.
If someone else can manage to successfully run an LCDS course to compliance on the scorm server - I would sure like to know how you did it. Because I, like many others, just cant get my finished product to play - and, yes, I have scoured this site and read the help files carefully. And consulted my web designers, IT folks and the LMS providers. According to scorm.com, the courses I create are not scorm 1.2 compliant.

Two Days Later: I uploaded the Microsoft Certification sample course to scorm.com to see if it conformed to scorm 1.2. The resulting warning was:

So it seems the resources/pages exist but there is a problem with the navigation to them.
Someone else on the Forums suggested that the # after .html was the problem and I suspect they are right. Until this is fixed, the program is certainly not fully SCORM compliant - maybe partially compliant. Courses do not run on too many LMSs by the look of the responses in these forums

Since this is part of my college course my grades goes down since your labs that I paid for though the college don't work. I want a refund for my classes $$$ or a free telephone support number for the help desk that can fix thease problems not a crappy forum. Everybody in the class has the same issues. I have just gotten this new computer. It is an HP with Windows 7. I thought it would have a 'Word' program already installed and have been unable to find it. I need a "Word" program to write letters, documents, and other information that I also want to save in folders. My other hard drive 'crashes' -- no back up (I know! DUMB) but --- Anyway I'm in GREAT need for your assistance.

What size do courses display in once they are published for the user?

Do they display in the same size as the size seen in the preview window or as full screen?

How can I change the sizing?

Will the display sizing change when placed in an LMS such as Moodle?

Receive error message when trying to delete

Hello,

Everytime I need to delete some content after having saved I receive an error message saying the program needs to be shutdown. I can usually answer "no" do not shutdown then "cancel" to ignore the message. However this problem is extremely annoying. My co-workers who also downloaded the LCDS experience this same issue. Any ideas?

How to publish content to be accessed via web browser

We have downloaded the LCDS tool and tried to use it for some test learning content development. When we click on the ‘Preview’ button, it displays the results correctly.

We would like to publish it on Web (Intranet) so that all internal users can access the content. When we click on the ‘Publish’ button, it only gives one method to publish in “Media Map (CSV file)”. We don’t understand how to use this tool to publish the content that can be accessed via web browser.

We are running this tool with local Admin privileges on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2. The IE Browser version is 6.0 SP2 (would that be a problem?)

Is there a document or some information that we can refer to? Please help.

Modifying existing lesson structures

So, I'm building a series of content and really don't want or need self-tests at the end of every lesson, and while I can edit them out from imsmanifest.xml and from the various lessonmanifest.xml files, this causes a funky error (access denied on viewer load). The same error occurs when I modify the viewer settings.xml (a file which I would assume is supposed to be editable given it sets options for the viewer).

Thoughts?

Edit: Should add that these lessons require only 3 topics per lesson, as that's the best division of information for the students consuming the content. Help says 4 minimum, but is there a way to get around that as a minimum if it doesn't make sense from a learning/content perspective?

Can't open a sample course

Hi there!
I've just downloaded LCDS and two sample courses - "Computer Basics" and "What's new in Windows Vista".
When I try to open the courses, however, I get a message asking me if I want to update to a newer version of the course or to cancel the opening of the file. If I say I want to update, I get another message saying the access to the path "commreceive.html" wasn't allowed and a message about a scritp error. :-\
Will you help me with that one, please?
I've got Vista installed, if that could be an issue.

No matter what I do - Communicator does not want to launch in a particular client's pc. Its a trust unit. I have done all the basic software troubleshooting one can think of. Part of a tech support team, no one knows what's wrong. I wanted to know if this is a known issue and if there is a work around.

ability add audio to other pages so courses can have narration
ability to add own logo for branding (important for company LMS)
less rigidity in graphic placement on simple pages
a simple PDF document/handout that explains the various templates and interactions so that a SME could know their options. It could be created from the Help content.

Praise

best help files I have seen - they don't just explain how to use the software, they are a course on Instructional Design
simple interface but fully featured - I am asking my (large) company to consider using it - if it runs ok on our LMS

Hi,

I'm new to using the LCDS tool. It's amazing and I'm eager to begin developing my an e-learning course. How does one insert images into the project. I attempted to store images in the media folder and then insert into the project. Does the "media file" require images other than jpeg or .gif? Can I use clip art images?

When I launch the LCDS program I receive this message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" what does this mean? I never received this message with v2.2 but when I updated to v2.3 I started to receive this message everytime I try to open the program.

Colour schemes and branding

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering how easy it is (if at all) to change the colour scheme of LCDS to make it a little more appealing to users.

Is there a way of altering the colours in the template or is the blue default or only option?

Furthermore is there possibilty to insert branding such as a logo / picture on the header of the course or even remove the Microsoft branding at all?

Hello evervybody,

It's not the first time that I encountered this this exception and each time it's difficult for me to find which dependency is missing.
My first question is the following, is there a good reason why it's not written in the message which dependency is missing ?
Instead of to tell us that one dependency is missing, why CLR doesn't provide us which assembly can't be find.

Second question if it's so long and boring to solve this kind of error it's certainly because I don't use the good tools.
Until now when I encouter this problem and the that I have a colleague who has not the same issue.
I use dependency walker and I try to compare the dependency one by one. First it's really painful and sometimes I don't find the reason.

Please, let me learn from your experience to solve this kind of errors.

I borrowed Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 from a friend to install on my computer. Followed instructions on computer (2007 Dell) It says it is insatalling and the disc is spinning but if fails to show up on my computer. Can this software be used again on another computer or is something wrong?

I want to publish the courseware to a LMS name Moodle which is opensourced software and support the Scorm/AICC.

Per the LCDS instruction, I zipped the course files. When I exported the zip file into the moodle, Error occurred.

The error message is "Manifest not found".

Hi,

Is it possible to receive feedback for questions when users complete a quiz / test set of questions? I know you can receive feedback after each individual question but can you get feedback for the whole quiz once complete?

Something like " Congratulations you scored 8 out of 10 " OR " You scored 7 out of 10, now repeat the quiz " etc?

Secondly (and somewhat of a longshot I know!) but, can LCDS email results of quizes / tests to a central user or training administrator? I know this can be done through an LMS such as Moodle etc but can LCDS do this on it's own?
