QuestionControl Version

I am using VS 2008 sp1. In the toolbox, the controls all have a lower version number, like this: ComboBox version 2.0.0.0. In the 'Choose ToolBox Items' dialog, two or more versions are listed, for example: DateTimePicker(2.0.0.0) and DateTimePicker(3.5.0.0). I would like the latest version to be in the toolbox, but when I uncheck the
earlier version in the dialog, the control just disappears from the toolbox without being replaced by the later version. I also have VS 2005 installed; could that be the cause? I have framework 3.5 sp1 installed.
