browser cant connect as if i had not internet connection

i have been using google chrome since i got my computer and i recently deleted it because i thaught there was something whrong with it. but when i tryed to download it again i was not able too because internet explorer was reacting as if there was no internet conection. i have now been able to get google chrome back via a USB and i had recently tryed firefox but i run into the same wall as with internet explorer ''cannot display web page'' with every thing i try. i know i do not have a internet conection probleme because my downloaded MMO works fine and so does google chrome but not the other browsers. I am suspecting that a seting has been changed but what?
