AnswerStirling Client System Requirements (OS Version)

This article for FCS client software system requirements explicitly mentions editions of Windows, such as XP Home, Vista Business, Enterprise, Home, or Ultimate.

This Stirling article also goes into specific edition support as well, but only mentions Vista’s “Business” edition and also omits XP Home, Tablet, etc.

I understand tablet is just an expansion onto Professional, and I also understand the base Vista OS is consistent across the editions, but I am wondering why Stirling bothers to mention Business on its supported client list and none others.  Is this a technical limitation?  Should I infer a licensing shortcoming in non-mentioned versions?

Also I realize this is pre-release documentation and subject to change, but the precise level of detail in the first edition and the precise omission of the second just made me raise an eyebrow.  Any feedback is welcome (especially from Microsoft).  J

    Hi Mike
The first article is in reference to FCS v1, which shipped in 2007.  The fact that it still has the pre-release documentation header seems wrong - I've passed the link along to a few folks

As FCS v2 / Stirling are pre-release, we have a limited set of platforms that we do our regular testing, and we list those here.  As we get closer to / post RTM, the content will be updated with the full list of platforms we support

    Thanks

Aha, ok.  So These platforms are the only ones listed FOR NOW because it helps isolate troubleshooting issues.  Once released we can expect to see the list include the usual suspects.  - thanks!
