Why is Microsofts help documentation so poor?

Answers

  • First - we accept the criticism. But we do try. Still it is difficult to write content easy enough for beginners to understand, and also technical enough for experts to fine tune their database systems.

If you ask a question, perhaps those of us with a good understanding of the documentation can point you towards something useful. That's one of the purposes of the MSDN Forums. All the contributors to this Forum are glad to help.

  • because there is no money and a lot of cost in making decent  documentation free. Shame, 'cause they used to have terrific documentation. i still use the VFP6 Programmers Guide.

Now the thinking appears to be that if you really need to know , you will find a way to find out.

  • The MS help documentation is intended to be mostly a reference document on syntax and usage.
