Content Distribution status stuck on In progress

    Question

  • I'm distributing content for a new package push, and one of my DPs is stuck showing a status of In Progress.  If I choose More Details, it shows Last Status Time as 6/27/2013, and the description is simply:  "Starting to process content"

How can I determine if this status is correct or not, and fix it if it really is stuck?

  • I've looked at the PkgXferMgr.log on both the primary site and the DP.  Nothing in either.  I don't see a pkgxfer.log

  • CU2 for SP1 should fix that. Are you already at that SP/CU level?

  • Nope.  We just applied SP1 a little over a week ago.

Does CU2 break as much stuff as SP1 did?

    Because I typo'd the name. :-)

You had it correct though. Sorry.

    No.
I've never seen issues with applying SP1 though. It's all a matter of planning ;-)

  • Well, it does affect Task sequences, and such.  some things have had to be recreated after SP1 install.

  • So, is there somewhere else I can look to figure out why it doesn't seem to be finishing?

  • I don't know if you have a secondary site, but there was a bug when distributing content to a secondary site. This bug was fixed with a Hotfix (KB2828900) and the fix is also included in CU2 that was released a while ago.

You can find more information regarding this specific issue here:

  • Have you reviewed distmgr.log?

Also, most of the issues in upgrading SP1 were either due to improper planning or over-aggressive anti-virus products. Task Sequences most certainly do not need to be re-created (unless you were using MDT integrated TSes because there were changes in MDT also).
