Error 0x800700DF: The file size exceeds the limit allowed and cannot be saved.

    Question

  • I am trying to copy some files from a document library in one web application to a document library in another web application. I have opened the libraries using the explorer interface and was trying to drag and drop from one to the other. I have checked the maximum upload file size in the general settings of the target web application and it is currently set at the maximum size of 2047mb. The file that fails is 206mb.

    I receive the following error:

    Error 0x800700DF: The file size exceeds the limit allowed and cannot be saved.

  • Hello,

    If all settings on the Server are correct. Then check this blog:

    Hope that helps.

  • Check your Web Application web.config file and see you have the section below and the size the same or higher than the file you are trying to upload (in bytes):

    <system.webServer>
     <security>
     <requestFiltering allowDoubleEscaping="true">
     <requestLimits maxAllowedContentLength="2147483647" />
     </requestFiltering>
     </security
       </system.webServer>
