Allowing DLNA through VPN

    Question

  • My setup:

    LAN -

    • Netgear router
    • XenServer 6.2 for my Hypervisor hosting the following servers (Which is hosting the DHCP server also)
    • Windows Server hosting SSTP, and PPTP (For my Apple devices ... boo apple)
    • Ubuntu Server 14.04 using minidlna as DLNA server
    • All on 192.168.0.0/24

I can connect my clients to the vpn from the internet fine, and everything works well apart from DLNA.

My client gets the ip config (example):

    • IP: 192.168.0.200
    • MASK: 255.255.255.255

After doing a little googling (Nope, I'm not going to say the word 'Binging' in public Lol), I found that the problem may be that RRAS is not forwarding broadcast packets.

Could this be the problem? If so, how do I fix it?

    Thanks in advanced

  • First I would suggest not using any Microsoft products. As I am in the same situation as yours, I found a couple of possible solutions. One is to allow the GRE protocol and the other is to set the default gateway. Please let me know how you fixed.
