MDT 2012 "Processing Bootstrap settings" stuck

    Question

  • Hello,

    i am using MDT 2012 for installing some "applications".

    When i run the deployment-wizard from Windows the process is stuck on :

    on some threads the problem was that the start of process is not done by "the" local administrator (this is true).

    What is the problem here, and how can i start the proces from another account in windows without this issue?

    Thx

    Edit : when enabling "the"  administrator account and running from the administrator everything works fine.

    How to enable this installation from another local administrator-account?

Answers

  • MDT is probably just offended by the theme being used on the desktop!

    As you say, it's OK when run as administrator so you have a few choices:

     - Boot into PE to start the build

     - Disable UAC

     - Create a shortcut and apply the "Run this program as an administrator" configuration to it on the compatibility tab.

  • What are your settings on your deployment share for your Bootstrap.ini?  Does this work if you boot a machine from the Litetouch Deployment ISO and it's only not working if launched from inside Windows?

  • Hi DC,

    this are my bootstrap.ini-settings:

    [Settings]
    Priority=Default

    [Default]
    DeployRoot=\\192.168.2.150\deploymentshare$

    This issue only occurs from starting in Windows when not starting from the local administrator-account.

    What is the problem here why this occurs?

    Thx

  • Are you launching MDT from a CD on the machine or from mapping to the Deployment Share and running it directly?  It sounds like a rights issue for the other local admin account on the Deployment Share to me.

  • Hi Dc,

    I am mapping to the deploymentshare and running directly. When I run as administrator the wizard will continue. But not with another local-account.

    When starting the wizard I am providing the credentials for the deploymentshare when asked!

  • Hi Andrew,

    will UAC have impact on this?

    Thx

  • It will indeed, that's why it currently works OK when you do "Run as administrator".

  • Today some problem in a full uptodate VM : Windows 8

    1) UAC Disabled

    2) Logged in as Administrator, but still the "processing bootstrap settings" stuck.

    What is going wrong?
