Win 2012R2 RDS, user disks and corrupted recycle bin

    Question

  • Hello,

we're encountering following problem: we're using 2012 R2 standalone RDS server and user disks feature on it.

Every time when administrator logs in remotely he receives following warning: "Recycle bin in C:\Users\%username% is corrupted, want to clean it up?", and this message appears for multiple users.

I already tried deleting $recycle.bin folder in every profile. rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin was tried as well.

Do you have any ideas how to fix it?

    Thank you in advance!

  • Hi Phillip,

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.

As you have removed the recycle bin folder, can you please check whether it’s still available or not.

You can check by opening Folder Option->view tab
Select “show hidden files and folder”
Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”

After this you can check whether folder is available under c: drive. If yes, then you can delete there. You can check below article for more information.
How to Fix a Corrupted Recycle Bin in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8

    Hope it helps!

    Thanks.

  • Hello, it's not available before the logon.

After user logs in it appears back.

Again, rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin was tried as well.

    Any other ideas?
