Proposed AnswerInstall Appv Terminal Services Client on Windows 2008 TS

I keep on getting an error when I install Appv 4.5 for Terminal Services Client on a Windows 2008 TS box. The error I am getting is that firstly the Visual C++ 2005 SP! update fails and then I get the prerequisite not installed error of error:25010. I can only imagine it has to do with the Visual C++ not being able to install. I notice that Visual C++ does not like Windows 2008, so I tried installing Visual C++ 2008 to see if it will remedy the problem. Sadly it doesn't.

Do any of you have some idea's?

    Hello,

There is actually Visual C++ 2005 SP1, and Visual C++ 2005. Now, its pretty easy to mistake these two as the actual file and installation are very similiar.

Can you verify that it really is installed, and that it is the latest version?

Also are you using the MSI to install the client or the setup.exe.  The msi doesn't install the prereqs but the exe does.

    Hello,

Exactly what error are you getting and which of the pre-reqs do you have installed?

    Here is the error message:

" The installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP! redistributable Package (X86) appears to have failed.  Do you want to continue the installation? "   YES or NO.

If I click "yes", it will continue, then an error message popup " Error 25010. A prerequisite for installation is missing Installation cannot continue.

    The only pre-req is the Visul c++ 2005 SP1.

    Thanks

I have seen this problem once, and that was because SAP client had installed VC++ 2005 SP1 on the machine but it was not registered as being the one from the Microsoft so App-V Client tried to install it and failed. By first manually installing Microsoft -provided VC++ 2005 SP1 package, App-V Client was happy and able to continue to actual client installer.

    Hi,

I have the exact same problem. 2008 R2. Manualy downloaded from microsoft 2005 sp1 32 and 64bit installed them. (also tried downloaded 2005 32bit 64bit, 2008 32bit 64bit. p.s. tried ito install app-v client after each additional visual c++ install still no luck) microsoft update applied a patch to 2005 sp1 32bit.

app-v client install failed with error 25010.

sometimes you really have to question microsoft!!

    Hello,

App-v 4.5 SP1 and below are not supported on any 64-bit operating system, and especially not 2008 R2.

This is clearly specified in all supported systems listed.

The to be version for support is 4.6 which is currently available as  beta from connect.microsoft.com and scheduled for final release in H1 2010.
