Search Scopes in SharePoint 2013 only for File Shares

    Question

  • Hi,

I want to configure my custom search page in SharePoint 2013 to show only for a Specific URL for file shares, e.g. (\\test\test1\).

In CA you can add new (Content Source) and change (Content Source Type) to (File Shares.)

But in my custom Search page only available (Restrict by app) which is not that good.

    any help please.

  • Hello,

You first need to create a results source in central admin > search application

Once you have created the results source you need to edit the properties of your search results webpart to use your result source.

If you need step by step instructions please let me know.

  • You have several options:

    1) You can use the "Path:<url>" in the query string to limit results to a particular path

    2) Using the same Path KQL query, create a new results page (open designer and your search site, copy one of the result pages, rename it to "fileshare.aspx").  Edit the page, modify the search web part, change the query to add the "Path" query
