  • The two obvious questions:

Are you running SP1 on the CAS?

Why do you need a CAS?

  • Hi

The image I have for configuration manager contain sp1, I am creating test environment on hyper V so we can replicate same in production level.

Example :- 1 CASE and 3 primary site( 1 Each on 3 Data center)

  • That doesn't answer the first question at all (or the second really).

  • What does "The image I have for configuration manager contain sp1" mean?

Does that mean you are using an image to deploy the OS that already contains ConfigMgr 2012 SP1? Or the media you have is for ConfigMgr 2012 SP1?

Is the account you are using a local admin on the CAS and a sysadmin in the SQL Instance hosting the CAS's DB?

Have you reviewed the setup log?

(As for the CAS, that's doubtful that that's a real requirement. A very, very small number of ConfigMgr installations actually require multiple primary sites.)

  • The basic thing what is required that in case one site failed another site will take that role

    1. The Media I am using ConfigMgr 2012 SP12

    2. The account i am using is domain user account which is added to local admin on primary and cas server

    3. Sorry not reviewed setup log as I  thought setup log will not have more info about this error as it looks like version issue

  • I mean ConfigMgr 2012 SP1

  • If you don't have proper permissions, it can't get the proper version information.

Along those lines, if the account also a Full Admin in ConfigMgr on the CAS? What about sysadmin in SQL? Neither of these has anything to do with being a local admin.

  • As sqladmin I am using different domain account

    1. Installation one domain account which is admin on local system and part of schema admin

    2. In sql using different account which is domain user only.

  • Well, that's certainly a problem. The user must be both. And it doesn't answer whether that user is also a Full Admin in ConfigMgr.

  • The installation account is full admin in ConfigMgr and I assign this account in configmgr Infrastructure role.

  • The installation account is full admin in ConfigMgr and I assign this account in configmgr Infrastructure role.

Why did you assign it the infrastructure role if it is a full admin?

And, it still needs to be a sysadmin in SQL.

And you still need to check the setup log.

  • I just assign it .. I know it illogical but using hit and trail thing.. I will add it as sysadmin and try again .. will check setup log and update you the same.

  • That's a screenshot of ConfigMgrSetupWizard.log. Isn't there a ConfigMgrSetup.log?
