MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 Migration

    Question

  • Hi,

I have an exisiting MOSS 2007 Intranet web application. The application has to be migrated to sharepoint 2010.

The existing application has the following:

    1) Most of the web parts and the default.master has been customized

    2) much of the custom 12 hive content is not packaged in solutions and also OOTB 12 hive files have been modified

    3) lots of lists and libraries

What will be the best way to migrate to sharepoint 2010?

    Thank you

Answers

  • If there are that much customization done i think the best option for you is either DB attach or 3rd Party Tool. The customization that was done will have to NOW adhere to best practices in SP2010 to give you the intended effect you had in MOSS and take this as an opportunity to get squared away.
