Power BI Installation Error

    Question

  • Hello,

I'm having trouble when starting the Power BI preview.

Everything went fine until I tried to add the Power BI app to my Team Site, where I couldn't see the Power BI app available in the list.

So I tried the following procedure http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/8ff9a53a-f618-47b5-b207-8c84e5055c3e/power-bi-not-showing-in-sharepoint?forum=powerbiforoffice365 but then I realised the app already tried to install, but couldn't succeed.

On the screen I see in the site collection :https://[mycompanysite].sharepoint.com/sites/AppCatalog I can see the Power BI icon stating that installating didn't go through and that I can try again.

I tried reinstalling without success, then deleting and reinstalling the app from the store without success here too.

However, I can see the Power Bi menu in the Administrator, so it looks like the installation is partialy done.

Any idea how to resolve this?

    Thanks

    Vincent

  • Hi Vincent,

If you go to the admin area of SharePoint:

    Then to Apps:

    Then to app catalog

    Select Site Contents

Do you see Power BI there? if so, what is it status?

If it says something went wrong, allowing to retry, then:

Retry and when installation completes go to the deployment menu of the app:

In the following page, make sure the (all paths) is in the managed paths (right hand side):

You will need to trust the app after saving this option.

If this is not the issue, please email us the tenant name and we will follow up.

  • Hi,

Thank you, it seems like it went through this time!

I'll do some further testing later and keep you noticed if I have any problem.
