Why is Windows Server 2008 R2 Version String different for German release?

    Question

  • Hello,

I have a program that parses the server string name and is case sensitive.

I found a difference in the German release and can't find documentation if this is intentional or a oversight.

English Version:  Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)

German Version: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-Bit)

Notice the b in bit is Bit.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thank you!!

  • That's a good suggestion. I will work on a setup in house.

We saw this from a customer site from Germany who used the localized German Windows copy.

Also, we did use a English version with the language pack installed but not difference.

    thanks for feedback!!
