Shared Disk issues with Windows 2008 R2 + SQL 2005 Clustering, in the cloud

    Question

  • Hello All

We recently started our Private Cloud "exodus" (or migration LOL) & our the requirement for the SQL servers is that they need to be in Failover Cluster setup. The problem is that our Cloud provider is not ready to present shared LUNs for the sql servers.

We manged to overcome the Quorum requirement as Windows 2008 does allow fileshare based quorum configuration.

Now the two nodes each has 3 independent disk: C:\, D:\ & L:\

Is it still possible to achieve failover cluster without having shared LUNs? If yes, kindly, direct me to appropriate links

  • I dont think so a disk,I have never configured cluster w/o shared disk, disk  has to be there which shud be cluster aware(shared) apart from local disk present on each server
