Autologon disabled after Microsoft account (Windows 8 and 8.1)

    Question

  • Hi,

Our pc’s are members of a domain. The pc’s have an autologon.  They have multiple users, but only one user is daily used.
It’s an administrator account. When I attach a Microsoft account to that user, the autologon is disabled on some of the pc’s. The problem happens on Windows 8 and on Windows 8.1. But only on 10% of the pc’s. Although their installation is identical. I checked the registry and all autologon settings seem to be unchanged. But the autologon does not work anymore.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

Have you checked User Accounts Setting?

    1. Open Run, Type netplwiz, Press Enter.

    2. In the User Accounts interface, identify whether the option "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" was unchecked.

In addition, you may couldn't find this option, if so, you can change it directly in the registry by changing some values in the registry at:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Set AutoAdminLogon to 0, Delete the DefaultPassword value.

Note: the change of registry may be harmful with system, please make a backup before you make any change of it.
