PKI setup query

    Question

  • Hi,

I am setting up a PKI infrastructure. I have noticed that my hostname is XYZ but the ISSUER of a certificate has a different name (root ca)#

    Is this an issue?

  • No, one name is the hostname, and the other is the Common Name of the CA service

In fact, bad things can occur when the two names match

  • Could you elaborate on what those bad things are?

Also, in the setup phase, can the common name for the CA differ to the hostname?
