Link update with Excel 2010

    Question

  • Good Afternoon,

I have a problem with Excel 2010. When I had Excel 2003, I could open files and it would prompt me a message asking if i want to update the links. Now, with 2010, it does not prompt me this message.

Going to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings I have checked Disable all Data Connections and Disable automatic update of Workbook Links, but it stil shows the cells as "#NA".

I also tried to disable all macros, but it shows "#NA". Going to ActiveX and checking Prompt me before enabling all controls with minimal restrictions, happens the same (#NA).

Below, you have the image of Excel 2010 (the first one) and Exce 2003 (the second one). One thing that i noticed is that the cells with #N/A has this content =+'Data Base BS'!M$90.

    Thanks since now!!

  • Hi,

“Control when external references (links) are updated” visit this link:

“Don't ask whether to update links when I open any workbook, and update links automatically”

This option is for the current user only, and affects every workbook opened. Other users are not affected. This option also affects links to other programs.

    1. Click the File tab, click Options, and then click the Advanced category.
    2. Under When calculating this workbook, clear the Update links to other documents check box. If this check box is clear, the links are automatically updated, and no prompt is displayed.

  • Thanks William for the resposnse, but i could fegure out where the problem was. The macros were created using excel 2003, and they were not compatible with Excel 2010.

Thanks very much for your attention.
