Using MAP Toolkit in Terminal Server environment

    Question

  • Hi All,

We will start SAM project at our customer. They are using thin clients with terminal services in a large measure.

Are there any practicular advice for MAP Toolkit in this environment?

How to determine thin clients and desktop/notebook users? (should i check the user profiles folder on the terminal server?)

    Thank you!

    Henrik

  • This is a tough one. Currently, MAP doesn't have a feature that addresses licensing in a terminal services environment, but we do collect quite a bit of data on the servers and from AD. I would try running the "Active Devices and Users" scenario and then look at the report to see if it has the data you need.

  • As a matter of fact, yes. In the next version of MAP we are introducing a Remote Desktop Licensing feature that will report on the number of licenses owned and how many have been issued. However, the RD license server must be running on Windows Server 2008 or newer in order for MAP to query it for the information.
