Decimals are rounded off when divided In a calculation field (access 2007)

    Question

  • Hi. I've created a query In access 2007 and am trying to perform a calculation Involving division:

( (unit_price * quantity) \ 1.18 ).This always divides the  number by.It ignores the decimals. If I multiply by 1.18 I get a correct answer with the decimals Intact.

     Any help would be appreciated.

  • \ is the integer division operator - it works with whole numbers only.

The 'standard' division operator that takes decimals into account is / instead of \.
