Webdav Role Service Missing

I'm in the process of adding SCCM to my environment. I need to install Webdav. When I go to select Role Services it isn't an option.
It has to be something with the OS version. I've never run into this. Windows Edition is Windows Server Datacenter Service Pack 2. This must be the version before 2008R2.
What do I need to do to install Webdav? Do I need a different OS such as 2008 R2 to install configuration manager and all its prerequisites?

Webdav is an addition of the web server role. Its part of the Common Http Features.
Just to be sure you know, you do not need webdav for SCCM 2012. (and that is good news)

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 5:55 PMUnfortunately it's not a feature. I have added it on 2008 r2 machines in the past, but this version doesn't have it. I'll try to install SCCM without it. I was following this SCCM install tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKtQxoiO9AI He states WebDav is needed to "Allow SCCM to publish things correctly".

Hi,
As Paul wrote, Webdav is no longer needed by SCCM 2012, the list of required software for the different site system roles are listed here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682077.aspx#BKMK_SupConfigSiteSystemReq and webdav is not listed :D

Don't believe everything you see on YouTube :-)
If you don't see WebDAV when adding IIS, then you are using Windows Server 2008, not Server 2008R2 as WebDAV was not included by default but was instead a separate download. however, as has been correctly mentioned, you do not need to install the default Windows WebDAV component for ConfigMgr 2012.

I though the same (WEBDAV is not necessary) until I saw this in CCMSETUP log:
Failed to correctly receive a WEBDAV HTTP request.. (StatusCode at WinHttpQueryHeaders: 401)
Now I am not so sure anymore...

Tuesday, July 17, 2012 6:23 PMModeratorTo clarify a bit, it's important to clarify what WebDAV is. WebDAV is a protocol -- actually its an HTTP extension -- its not a component. In ConfigMgr 2012, the product team chose to implement this extension internally to the product instead of relying of the Windows Server component/feature that also implements this extension. Thus, even if you install the Windows server WebDAV feature, it will not be used.
