cannot connect to Console
- Hi,
I have SMS Provider and SCCM Console installed on SCCM Server and SQL Cluster on remote server. Before the windows firewall is turned on, the sccm console has no problem connecting to the SQL database. But when the windows firewall is turned on, then the SCCM Console cannot connect to SQL. I see from the log of smsprov.log as shown below, the sms provider cannot connect to the SQL database. But when I tried to connect to SQL database on SCCM Server using ODBC, it can establish the connection. I did DCOM setting on my SCCM server, but it still failed.
e:\nts_sms_fre\sms\siteserver\sdk_provider\smsprov\sspobjectquery.cpp(5566) : SQL Connection attempt timed out

- On which server did you turn on the firewall? SQL server or SCCM server?
- On SCCM Server, I turn on the firewall, the firewall on SQL Server is turned off. But in future, both servers will turn on the firewall.

HTH.
Jie-Feng Ren - MSFT - But between SCCM and SQL, it's only 1433. Since SMS Provider sits on SCCM server, the ports are don't need to be opened for those SMS Provider related port.

ManuPhilip - Hi,
But now the console cannot connect to SQL, nothing to do with the sccm client yet. - Have you tried to make a program exception instead of just a port opening in the firewall?
