The AI Sync Point will actually upload the name of software titles to Microsoft for identification. How can I disable this option? I see the explanation this upload is optional.

License 1A report missing Windows 7 and 2008 R2 info

Hi all,

we are currently running 2007 SCCM SP2 and my boss wants me to get MVLS reporting done but i noticed a strange issue - even though we applied SP2 the License 1A report is missing Wondows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 products. We have loaded the current MVLS license ledger into the DB. I have also confirmed that LU_MSPROD is missing records for these products (no MPC codes populated).

Is anyone else having a similar issue or is this something we possibly missed? I have all AI classes enabled. Inventory has run multiple times after this.

How does LU_MSPROD table get populated? I saw some stored procedures that seem to be related but did not want to touch anything.

Need some clarification about CAL tracking

It was my initial understanding that CAL tracking was done on any system that had the ConfigMgr client installed albeit either a workstation or a server. However, after reading this article, I'm not so sure any more http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693540.aspx. According to this, CAL tracking is different on servers than it is on workstations and even the statement of "CAL information is not collected on non-server operating systems." confused me as I thought that CAL tracking was enabled on workstations as well as servers.

Asset Intelligence Synchronisation Point

Hello,

We've installed the Asset Intelligence Synchronisation Point today on our central site. The central site is reporting that it has successfully updated the catalog.

What should we expect to see at the primary sites? Around six hours after configuring the sync point, the primary sites are still reporting "Online connector is not found". Looking at the reports, they appear to still be using the old catalog.

Is there an extra step we need to take to update them, or a log file we can check to see whether the update is being distributed?

Question about importing non-Microsoft License

I was able to import a .csv file of some non-Microsoft license. When I view the report "License 15A - Third Party Software Reconciliation Report", the Inventory Count column is 0. My License Quantity & Difference columns show 7. Why does my Inventory Count show 0? What setting needs to be turned on in order for this column to populate correctly. I know we have at least 5 systems that have this license.

Change of MVLS Statements

A Microsoft support shared with me that the format of MVLS statement has been changed as of 1st May 2009 and it is not supported by SCCM anymore.

I understand that we can still key in the Microsoft purchase details in third party license catalog and import it into SCCM. Does it mean all AI License reports cannot be generated anymore except for License 15A - Third Party Software Reconciliation Report?

Now my question is, if my customer has volume license like SMSD and SMSE, at the same time they also have CORE CAL, how am I supposed to use the third party license catalog to keep track of the license usage? The product name in the SCCM inventory and the product name in the licensing file must be tallied. It seems to be there`s no way we can achieve that by editing the third party license file.

Anyone has any idea? I`ve been cracking my my head trying to figure out the best solution.

Hardware 01A - Summary of computers in a specific collection

Hello,

The server is Windows Server 2003 with IIS 7.0
I am running the report "Hardware 01A - Summary of computers in a specific collection" against several collection and the collection "All Systems" I am getting an error http 500 internal General error.

When running on other collections (canned or customised) it works if the collection does not contain too many items (it is the only clue I have for now not sure it is it ...)

if I run the query in SQL with the two collectionIDs they work fine...

Any idea?

AI: Hardware 02A report doesn't computer age for Dell 745 and 755 computers

We have Dell Optiplex GX620,280, Optiplex 745/755 computers installed in our environment.

In our SCCM207SP1 server when I run "Hardware 02B - Computers within an age range within a collection" report I get reports only for 620 and 280 computers.There is no information for 745 and 755 related to their birth date.

Although when I open hyper link for those systems their serial number and model no. showed up properly.

Please help.

Does anyone know how I can create a custom report has to show all licensed software for the entire company. I want to run the report without any prompts on the Report viewer.
The colums on the report has to show Netbios name,Site code, Username, Operating system,Display name (which is the name of the product) Unfortunately I don't know any SQL to make these reports so I need outside help to show me step by step on how to create a custom report or is there any predefined reports on SCCM that can be altered that I can use for this customized report.

We have AssetCenter (from HP), and we are upgrading to SCCM from SMS. If we use Asset Intelligence to discover our the hardware/software in our global environment, is there any existing integration between SCCM and AssetCenter?

Would we be better of just buying the Enterprise Discovery Module for AssetCenter?

Windows 7 machines show as XP installed.

We don't have 15 SQL Server Enterprise machines we have 6 as the drill down report showes.

I have a report to show the collection computer inventory and collection will be one of the parameter. How can I write a SQL to filter the collection that the login user has the corresponding read access?

To anyone that can help.
I need to make a custom report that will list out these software titles from separate specific collection. One separate collection name is 00-Regional-Southeast Computers
I only found this SQL statement online which was pretty close. I don't want the report to prompt me for the information.I'm new at SCCM 2007 and don't have much experience with SQL.

AI Third Party Software Reconciliation Report Inventory Count returns 0

Hi. I can`t get the correct value for inventory count in the third party software reconciliation report even though I have successfully imported the license file. It shows 0 for all software, which is not the valid result.

I modified the product name in the license file to follow exactly the same product name under Add / Remove program in resource explorer. I have also tried Product Display Name under Product Details. All returned 0 for inventory count.

Any help would be appreciated

Enabling "Audit Logon Events" for proper AI CAL tracking

I've done some research on AI and have found that I need to enable logon events so that it can track usage. However, I'm a little unsure on which "audit logon events" it is talking about. We're in an Active Directory environment in which all workstations obviously authenticate to the domain controllers. We have an audit policy already in place on the Default Domain Controller policy that is set to "Audit Logon Events" Success and Failure, however, I'm still getting this error in my event log on the SCCM server ("Security audit policy "Audit Logon Events" is not enabled. Client Access License (CAL) information will not be collected.") I checked the local policy of one of my clients and the local policy is NOT set to audit logon events. Since the client is on the workstation, I'm assuming that it doesn't matter if they are being audited on the DC and they need to all be set on the individual PCs, correct?

If so, I'm going to create another GPO and link it to my top level domain with 1 setting in Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Account Policies/Local Policies/Audit Policy/Audit Logon Events. I'm then going to set that setting to enabled with success and failure. Is this the right approach?

MVLS License Import

I am trying to import my MVLS licenses into SCCM 2007 SP1 AI. I was able to export the license statement summary by using Excel 2007. Apparently 2003 will not work. I was then able to save the 2007 xls to a 2003 format then in 2003 save it as an xml file on a share. I then tried to import and I got the following error:

Asset Intelligent report - Hardware 02B (Estimated Date of CPU Manufacture)

Within the 'Hardware 02B - Computers within an age range within a collection' web report, a high percentage of systems mark the 'Estimated Date of the CPU Manufacture' column as 'Not Available'.

I have confirmed that all the latest AI catalog updates have been received.

Dan Baldo indicated that there may be an update to the CPU tables at some point but this was posted March last year. (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrai/thread/2b8b0152-d213-4350-9d5f-206faf620c43/)

Are there any updates to when we may expect a CPU table update within the AI catalog updates?

Has anyone identified a work around of any sort? Manually updating AI SQL tables perhaps?

Got the Microsoft License Statement... can't import it.

I have followed the steps from some other posts on saving my statment as an 2003 Excel XML document to try and import it, but it get errors. I'm also not 100% sure i have the correct report. I was sent the full License Statement which has several workbooks in it and i'm not sure which sheet i should be using, or if i should save the entire workbook as the XML file. If anyone could help i would appreciate it. At the bottom i have the following pages in the workbook : Introduction, Organization Summary, License Summary, Transaction Summary, Luicense Agreements, Transaction Data, SA Benefits, Entitlements Data, FAQ, Pivot Data.

SCCM is taking too long to run

Hi,
I recently installed SCCM SP1 in a lab envitonment and everything has been working well except that it takes ages for most things to work. For exampe, it took over 10 hours for the client managers to install and report back to the console. Software and hardware inventory have also been taking really long periods.

Is there anything I can do to speed things up or is this normal?

I would also like to know if it takes this long to run in a live environment.

MVLS software license XML

I know that I need to get the MVLS software license spreadsheet in xls format before I could convert it into xml and import the software license file. My question is where and how could I get the MVLS software license spreadsheet in xls format from? I saw from the forum, I could export the xls file from MVLS website, but I couldn't see anything export features from the MVLS website. Please help to advice. Thanks.

I hope someone will be able to help me out with my problem. It seems that all the Asset Intelligence Reports are missing from my SCCM installation. If i try to run one from a cliet with the console installed, nothing happens. If i try to run the reports from the server, i get the following message:

"Unable to Launch the report '***' because it does not exist on the report server or the report server is unavailable.

Any ideas on this? I have the reporting point set up and configured. Any help would be appreciated.

i am looking for clarification on which report to import into sccm. i have received a Microsoft Claret license statement & also have access to the license summary from the licensing website. the layout & the headings of both reports differ & i am not sure which is the correct one to import.

on another note, when i right click on the asset management menu item in sccm, i dont have the option that says import mvls statement? any ideas.

How Does AI Handle Reporting Specifications for Software Usage?

Background: We currently use a 3rd party application to verifiy the usage of software applications in our enviornment. This 3rd party solution provides us with an amount of time that each software is being used by recording the time of the EXE process when the window is active.
For example lets take Outlook. In most cases users open Outlook and leave it up open all day but they are not actually using Outlook for the entire time at work it typically gets minimized or is not the focus while other tasks on the computer are being done. So if a user works for 8 hours and open Outlook without closing it then it would appear Outlook was used for 8 hours (if you just count the process uptime. The 3rd party solution we use actually reports how much of that 8 hour time span was Outlook the active focus to give a better estimate of usage. I'm not sure if the 3rd party solution uses interaction (keyboard/mouse) with the application or just records the time that the Outlook.exe is the active window but either way the report is closer to accuracy because of it.
I have read some white papers on AI and looked at some other postings and details but I have not seen anything that answers this question yet. Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction!

Question: My actual question is how does Asset Intelligence report this time and is it able to report in the manner such as the 3rd party application that we use?

Motive: We would like to save money by replacing the 3rd party application with AI if possible.

It is possible to only monitor software usage in one OU or one collection? I want to see how many of the apple users are actually using the windows side of their machine by monitoring explorer.exe but my server does not have the resources to enable AI on the whole domain.

Asset Intelligence no longer requires SA to gain access to the magic cert to open up the AI catalog! The cert will be posted to a public website, but location is still being sorted out.

Is a PC Utilization Report Possible?

It may be best if I explain the situation before asking the question;

We often have departments asking for additional PCs. What I would like to do is to run a report off based on a collection, and examine what the %usage between the hours of 9am - 5pm was. i.e what % of the time was someone actually logged in to each workstation. So that I can look at the stats and say "PC01 was only logged in to %30 of the time last week".

does anyone know if this is possible using SCCM2007 via Asset Intelligence reports?

I'm new to reporting in SCCM and was looking for some help in producing a report on collection "all xp computers" showing how many pc's have visio 2003 installed.
I do need to create reports for other microsoft appliacations as well however once i can see a working report setup for visio 2003 im sure i can mod it to me needs.
