    Folks,

     

    I have 1 central site e 3 primary sites (SCCM 2007 R3). I want to change hardware for all servers. What's the best way to do that?

    I guees I have two ways, like that:

     

    1. Backup and restore any site, one by one (this is more complex then way two)

     

    or

     

    2. Create new sites in new hardware, using the same CM environment, reasign all clients, and after that KILL the old servers.

     

    Any tips for me?

    I prefer option 1, backup and restore. That way you are in full control and do not have to fear that packages are being redeployed etc.

    And, if I want to change the hostname for the new servers?? The first option is valid??

    no host name and installation drive must be the same in a backup/restore scenario. If you want to change the host name, option 2 is the only valid option.

    If I keep the Host name and Drives, can I change: IP, SQL Server version, Windows version??

    Yes, backup/restore is the only supported way to change the operating systems. IP is never a problem, and SQL can be done without backup/restore.

    Very nice. And, what means keep same drives? is It just have the same drive letters in new HW? Or I need to have the same space??

    Same drives letters. Disk space is never a problem.

    During the time period between shutdown old server and reconfig (restore using wizard) thw new site, how will be the behavior of the sccm clients?

    They will not do anything except try to download policies and upload inventory/state information.

    They will try to contact their MP until you rebuild the server. You can stop sms host agent on computers via a GPOs until you finish.
