AnswerBackup of the storage folder?

    Hi,

I've read  pretty much all the info about the backup of SCCM from Technet and AdminGuide.

I've done the configuration with the task to backup my SCCM w/SQL. Works great!

But, I don't understand how to manage the SMSPKG$.

Do I need to take a regular backup of the folder?

If my server goes dead, I do a fresh install , then with the Repair Wizard I restore the configuration of SCCM and my database.

But what happen to all my package, task sequence, etc? I would rather re-do the SCCM configuration instead of recreating all my packages and task sequence.

So the 2 real questions :

    How to backup SMSPKG?

    How to restore it?

Last thing, is SMSSIG$ needed in the backup too?

    thanks!!

smspkgx$ is the location were the distribution point stores its packages. Assuming you have a backup of the original package sources than this would be recreated. You could make a backup of it to be online faster.

Smssig$ creates hashes for your packages, again it would be recreated by updating your distribution point.
