    Hello,

I'm planning to create a new central server that will join several working SCCM environments into one single hierarchy.  In our testing and planning we are considering the challenges of having such a large environment and giving proper consideration on its impact on the Central Site Server.

Does the SCCM Backup lock the database when it is running?  How long is the backup expected to take assuming the database size were approximately 80Gb in size?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

No it will not lock the db. And the backup will take about 5-20 minutes or so.

we have around 287 GB backup for central site. It takes around 2 hrs to complete. However, SMS executive service will restart once. Restart taken some few seconds only . Other work will take care by VSS service
