Maintain and monitoring complex system configurations can be difficult, to impossible. However using Microsoft Desired Configuration Monitor (DCM) an feature of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007, with the Security Compliance Management toolkit from Solution Accelerators provides the ability to monitor and report on potential risks of your complex windows configuration baselines in one box!
The toolkit is packed with more than 300 security settings and knowledge needed to setup and monitor Microsoft operating systems for Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2003 SP2.
The Configuration Packs provides the compliance information needed by IT Professionals to verify and validate configuration established after Group Policies are implemented using tools such as the GPOAccelerator. I am trying out SCM with Microsoft Baseline for Windows Server 2003 SP2 (WS03-SSLF-Domain-Controller). However, I will like to customize the baseline to include items that can be found in a typical security template like password policy, account lockout policy, file system and registry settings etc. Is there any tools to create a such new Basline and which are the third party baselines that are available for customisation?
