    Hi Jannes,

    You are correct that SQL 2005 SP3 and SQL 2008 are now supported for hosting the site database. An early announcement of this change went out on the Configuration Manager Support Team blog at http://blogs.technet.com/configurationmgr/archive/2009/01/06/sql-server-2005-sp3-is-now-supported-for-sms-2003-and-configmgr-2007.aspx, and the official supported configurations topics in the documentation library are in the final stages of a new update to reflect the changes in support.

    Additionally as part of the latest update, the supported configurations topics have been reformatted to make them easier to read and some additional information has been added to them. One item that was added relevant to this thread is a table in each supported configurations topic that clearly outlines which versions of SQL Server are supported for each release.
