We will be performing a side-by-side installation of SCCM 2007. Our existing environment consists of SMS 2003 SP2 32 bit Windows 2003 and SQL 2000 SP4 with 40 Proxy Management Points to handle client traffic and software distribution. We are moving to Windows Server 2008 64 bit and installing SCCM 2007 SP1 with SQL 2005 SP1 64 bit in the same domain.

How do we prevent an existing software installation from SMS 2003 from reinstalling on a client that has been upgraded to SCCM 2007?

For example, We have Office 2003 deployed from both SMS 2003 and SCCM 2007. Client "A" received package from SMS 2003 and then is upgraded to SCCM 2007. What mechanism if any within SCCM prevents Office 2003 from being installed again on the same computer?
