Proposed AnswerSCCM Boundaries - subnet and site overlapping

    Hi

I have a question regarding SCCM Boundaries and protected distribution point.

    Our environment consist of
A single AD site - Oslo - which includes all subnets.
1 SCCM server in a central location with distribution point.
5 remote locations. Each of these are in the AD site Oslo, and each of these have its own SCCM file share distribution point.

I am trying to set up protected distribution points for each of the remote locations, and then set up the distribution point on the
central location where the SCCM server resides as unprotected distribution point. The plan is to make the clients on the remote locations to use
the nearest distribution point when it's downloading packages. If they don't find any distribution point nearby they go to the distribution point on
    the central location.

Our only SCCM boundary are the AD site Oslo, defined as a LAN connection.
Is it possible to define the subnets for the 5 remote locations (each as fast (LAN) connection) as boundaries, and then set up the
protected distribution points to use its subnet?

I have heard that SCCM doesn't like overlapping boundaries, but that it don't apply when the boundaries are in the same SCCM Site.
    Is That right?

    Thanx for replies!

    Regards, Marius

One single AD site that spans multiple locations? That's no best practise in designing an AD environment. I would try forcing the AD guys to think about the current design ...
Overlapping boundaries are not supported so I wouldn't add the AD site as a boundary, but make use of subnets.

I have read that overlapping boundaries are not supported, but these boundaries are in the same site. I found this answer from Wally in another question:

"In a single site scenario, if you have a fast boundary and a slow boundary, the slow boundary would take precedence over the fast boundary.

There isn't really a concept of overlapping boundaries within a single site. "

Should it work since all the boundaries are in the same site?
