AnswerSMS Client Requiring Reboot

I know the client requires a reboot if BITS is not already installed while installing the SMS client. From the behavior I have seen so far, it appears that the computer just waits for the administrator to initiate the reboot before proceeding with the SMS client installation.

But I do recall from one of my SMS classes that one has to be careful with client push on assigned computers since they may reboot automatically as a part of SMS client installation and no BITS installed.

Does anyone know of a scenario when the reboot is forced during client installation? I just added our production servers to the boundary and have client push enabled on the site. I do not want any of them reboot automatically.

In this enviroment, I recommend you deploy BITs update prior to installing SCCM client. You can use WSUS server to deploy BITs update for those clients required. If you do no want them reboot automatically, you can configure GPO->computer configuration->administrative templates->windows component->windows update->no auto-restart for scheduled automatic updates installations.
