Default packages with installation?
- I see that there are two packages, WinUpdate client and config manager client in the package advertisement area. Are this create by default, or only when you actually deploy?
Answers
- No, those packages are not ever created by Configuration Manager. Someone else must have created them. If you run the Deploy Software Wizard, and import the Configuration Manager Client Upgrade package definition, then in that wizard an advertisement is created, but again it is done by an admin, not us automatically.

- Hi,
In a new configMgr environment no packages are created by default. Someone in your environment must have created the packages and also the advertisements.

- Thanks
So, my question is, is this package automatically created when you right click and select install client (which I do not think it is), or did the previous person working on the system actually created a package for reasons only he knows?
From what I read, the two do not need a package to install, they are done by push when you check the corresponding options in the site system option.
I want tho delete them and clean the system from the previuos owner's try outs. - Hi,
It's not using any package with client push. The feature is there by default. Whne you right click a collection, Install Client doesn't require a package.
Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products - For puching client, SCCM will use ccmsetup.exe command to install client. And installation package will download from MP during installation. You can refer to:
