Tasks failing on SCCM sites

For some reason a couple of the database tasks in my environment are failing fairly regularly and I cannot seem to find much on the subject.
My site is SCCM 2007 R3 build 6487 version:4.00.6487.2000. The database is local to the Primary Site Server.
There are 9 servers reporting into this site server. All of those 9 are only distribution points. The management point runs on the Primary Site Server.
The SMS_DATABASE_NOTIFICATION_MONITOR is reporting that two tasks are failing regularly: "Summarize Client Access License Weekly Usage Data" and "Delete Aged Client Access License Data". Both show Message ID 2401 within a minute or so upon starting the task (Message ID 2408).
Other tasks seem to be running fine.

Friday, January 04, 2013 8:49 PMDo you have AI enabled and CAL tracking? Neither are enabled by default.

Thank you very much for your reply!
Yes AI is enabled. As I checked that I do see these messages when selecting the AI node in the CM console:
Asset Intelligence Sync Point status: Connection failed - bad certificate
Asset Inelligence catalog updated: ..... Occurs every 4 days..... Last update 11/26/2012
This led me to look at my other 3 Primary sites (Same versions as above). AI has also been enabled there but the status is a bit different. All 3 of those sites report as:
Asset Intelligence Sync Point status: Online Connector is not found
Asset Inelligence catalog updated: ..... N/A
And those sites are also failing the two tasks above.
I'm afraid I do not know much about these settings or their functions as I did not enable them myself.
Thanks again

The AI Sync Point has connection to the maintenance tasks and their failure.
What about my second question? Is CAL tracking enabled? This is not a checkbox in the console but an edit to the configuration.mof file? If not, you should disable those two maintenance tasks as they are then useless.

Looking at my configuration.mof file I see the below entries. I have never modified this file myself, so I don't want to state for certain if it is "enabeled" or not. Looking very quickly at other posts/blogs etc, I believe the CALCollectionType = 3 indicates that it is enabled.
// CAL tracking server side configurations and policy
[Singleton]
class CCM_CALTrackConfig
{
uint32 CALCollectionType;
uint32 CALCollectionFrequencyDays;
uint32 CALCollectionFrequencyMinutes;
uint32 CALCollectionTimeWindow;
string CALCollectionSupportedWindowsVersions;};
instance of CCM_CALTrackConfig
{
CALCollectionType = 3; //0-Disabled, 1-User CAL, 2-Device CAL, 3-All
CALCollectionFrequencyDays = 1;
CALCollectionFrequencyMinutes = 60;
CALCollectionTimeWindow = 90;
CALCollectionSupportedWindowsVersions = "5.0,5.2,6.0";Thanks

Looks like it is enabled then.
Do you use it? CAL tracking was scrapped in 2012 because it simply is too difficult to get working correctly so if you're not using it, disable it and disable the maintenance tasks.
Just trying to steer you to the path of least resistance here cause I don't know off hand how to troubleshoot these tasks. If you actually need them, you may have to turn on verbose logging to get more info. They may have log files of their own also although I don't think they're documented so you may have to search around the logs folder for them.

Thanks again for the input. I will likely do exactly as you recommend. Let me check with a couple of other sys admins to make sure this isn't setup for a specific need.
