I am in the process of deploying our SCCM Clients out to our Servers and Workstations. I have chosen the AD system Discovery + Client Push method. I pointed the discovery at the OU's where our Workstations and Servers are, it created records in the SCCM Database, and the clients have started to deploy.
As it is early days in our deployment, I have set the AD system discovery to run every three days to ensure that it detects all of our machines.
I am now faced with a bit of a mess in my All Systems Collection. I have a whole bunch of duplicate Computer Names, some with the agent = Yes and some without.
I had hoped that SCCM when running AD system discovery, would be able to match the computername and other attributes to the machines with agents already in the database, and be smart enough to not add these again to the database. This doesnt appear to be the case.
I am trying to find a happy medium between the AD System Discovery, and running the 'Delete Aged Discovery Data' task. If I have my AD system discovery set to run every 7 days, what would you recommend to set the Delete Aged Discovery Data task to? I am worried that the task will remove alot of valid information from my database based on what Technet mentions in this link

Thanks,
- Scott.
