    Help or Please Advise!

Has anyone had any issues with deploying (Windows XP Professional SP3 x86) to a Dell Latitude E4300 Laptop?

The TS runs up to the point of reboot, and when it goes into Mini Nt (Windows XP Setup) it freezes

We have imported both the E4300 cab file from dell, as well as tried it by importing individual drivers for the necessary hardware devices.

The reference image was built on VMware  this same image has been deployed to multiple Dell’s 760,755 D530 and well as IBM/Lenovo

    Thanks

     Answer

    All-

The problem with the E4300 was two part. I found an article were someone else had the problem and the solution was image it without the battery in it.  Did that and it works, next we flashed the bios then reimaged with the battery in it.  That worked as well.

Moral of the story….. Everyone needs a little flash from time to time.

to rule out HAL issues can you try disabling any hyperthreading or such like in the bios and try again ?

if that doesnt help verify you have the latest bios version from Dell, and try and see what your setupapi.log file says about the problem (same for smsts.log), you can always boot via a usb winpe key to get the log files

Johan Arwidmark does have a HAL switching technique which you might have to employ or do a fresh build and capture on this box...

    cheers
