    Hi

We have few hundreds of computers running XP SP2/3. These computers are NOT connected to a domain/workgroup. They are merely IP machines

Is it possible to install a client on these machines for monitoring their resources and identify them ONLY by their IP address?

    Regards, Amit.

What's an "IP machine"? A windows XP computer has to be member of either a workgroup OR domain. The ConfigMgr client can be installed on workgroup machines, but there are dependencies to DNS etc.

Also, ConfigMgr does not "monitor" systems. It manages them. I'm not pointing this out as a semantic difference but as a substantive difference in the functionally of ConfigMgr and products like OpsMgr. This the question: is the question above a ConfigMgr question?
