SCCM 2007 Client push install BITS problem
-
Sunday, February 28, 2010 7:12 AMHi,
I have setup a SCCM 2007 SP2 server in mixed mode on a network with about 30 computers.
On a good part of them, the client installs OK (around 20-22). On the other computers, it fails with the following error:

Sunday, February 28, 2010 7:07 PMHi,
Check that the Default Web Site/CCM_CLIENT still exist and no emty, also check the permessions of CCM_CLIENT. For more info : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632994.aspx
Check that <Installation path<\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Client folder still exists.
Have you another web-application on the site server ?
Thank's.

Monday, March 01, 2010 6:47 AMHi,
BITS is used to download the required files from the ManagementPoint.
Check BITS with the bitsadmin.exe tool for queued jobs or backlogs.
Bitsadmin.exe commands are:
bitsadmin.exe /list /allusers (showe queued jobs)
bitsadmin.exe /reset /allusers (deletes all the jobs)
Then re-push the client from SCCM console.
Other thing to look for is that the i386 folder from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Client still exists.
Hope this helps.

Hi to both of you and thanks for the suggestions.
I have tried to access http://server/CCM_Client - it is OK. It has all the content of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Client.
It has ccmsetup.cab, ccmsetup.exe and the i386, x64 and ia64 folders.
Right now, there is no other web-application on the server site. There was the WSUS web-site on the same server, but when the errors begun showing up, I have removed the WSUS from this server and moved it to another.
I ran the bitsadmin commands and here is the output of the commands:

Thursday, March 04, 2010 7:56 PMHi,
I think that these command failed because the logged on account is not the owner of the jobs.
use bitsadmin /takeownership : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772126(WS.10).aspx
For exemple :
C:\Users\Administrator>bitsadmin /takeownership {39E5BE38-EFAF-408C-8C31-D1678BBB84D3} ... do this for each job
Then try again : C:\Users\Administrator>bitsadmin /reset /allusers
Thank's.

Hi,
The bitsadmin /takeownership {GUID} command fails:
Unable to take ownership - 0x80070005
Access is denied.
I have tried to open a cmd with system credentials ( psexec /i /s cmd). The result is as follows:
Unable to take ownership - 0x800704dd
The operation being requested was not performed because the user has not logged
on to the network. The specified service does not exist.
I ran a bitsadmin /list /allusers /verbose and the stalled jobs seem to be from wsus (which i uninstalled a few weeks ago and moved it to another server).

Hi,
Are you connected via the Terminal Server on the ConfigMgr server ? If yes, log on to the server directly and repeate the same steps.
Thanks.

Hi,
I sit with a similiar problem where I am unable to cancel, takeownership, complete, resume or do anything with the running job. I've tried even re-installing BITS but also to no avail.
When I run Bitsadmin, I do however see that I get a Transient_Error hence the reason I am trying to reset the JOB.
Any help on cancelling a BITS JOB when it states Access denied will be great. (I have tried all and every possible account, Domain Admins, Enterprise Admin, Running as Administrator, Elevated Rights, everything). But still I am unable to cancel the JOB.
Regards,

I'm having the EXACT same issue. I have a case opened with Microsoft. They have worked with me for many hours and still haven't figured it out.

Hey Lauren,
Please try accessing the ccmsetup.exe from remote path to machine and run the client manually on one of the affected machine. Also pls let me know if you are running any batch/vb script to install the client? It happens with me too but I can't conclude anything without being aware the situation.
have you kept your script under shared smsclient folder? If yes, remove any customized file or custom script from this folder except default sms client installers and then run the script by specifying the sms client path from different folder.
Regards,

Friday, March 08, 2013 9:34 PMDid you guys ever reach a resolution? I have a related issue. I am trying to create a task in LANDesk to install the SCCM client (don't laugh). And it has this same BITS error. Normal installs work fine without the BITs error.
